Your Presence is Requested

"Colin, you have to concentrate!"

Wide eyes open wider at his brother's admonition. Apparently, there has been an explosion. Colin isn't sure why.

"What is it we're supposed to be doing again, Dennis? This isn't really necessary, is it?"

Dennis narrows his eyes and Colin represses the urge to snicker.

Is that what I look like, when I'm nervous and impatient?

"Of course it's necessary, Colin. It isn't as if I'll get more than one wedding -- at least, not if things go as they should. Now concentrate, alright? Because I can't, see -- I'm nervous. I just need you to use the depilatory charm on me so that I don't have to go to my own wedding with my face all scruffy!"

This is actually quite funny, but Colin loves his brother too much to laugh at him in his honest desperation. Colin can't remember a time where either he or his brother ever grew more than a dusting of fuzz on their faces. Still, Dennis looks truly concerned, so Colin pulls his resolve together to cast the charm his brother thinks he needs.

Dennis rubs his extraordinarily smooth chin and gives Colin an appreciative grin.

"Thanks, Colin! I know you're distracted, and don't think I don't know why," he says with a nod.

Colin feels his cheeks grow warmer, a feeling that happens more often than not, lately.

"Is he coming today?" Dennis asks, causing Colin to redden further. "Oh, gosh, Colin -- to the wedding, I mean! Because it's okay if he does. I mean, Natalie wanted to send him an invitation in the beginning, but I thought we would just be annoying him -- because he's so famous and so busy now, and I didn't think he would be very likely to remember us, but now that you're dating him, well-"

"We've only been on two dates, Dennis," Colin interrupts. "You don't bring a person to a wedding on what would only be your third date -- he might think... well, you know, it might just seem a bit pushy. And I don't want to push him away, not ever! So to answer your question, I... erm..."

There is a knock at the door -- not too loud, a bit tentative. The door inches its way open as Dennis calls out a welcoming, dry-throated "Hullo." Harry Potter pokes his head into the room, possibly a little more quickly than he had planned, for his glasses make contact with the doorframe and fall from his face to the carpet. They bounce a few feet before Colin instinctually scoops them up and places them on Harry's face.

"Hi Dennis," Harry says without even glancing his direction. "I know this is really rude of me to show up without a proper invitation, but I asked Colin if I could come. He didn't think you would mind."

Colin's stomach jumps as Harry kisses him without any further warning. He doesn't know why Harry is here, he doesn't know why Harry wants to be near him...

(...he doesn't know why oxygen is necessary, either, and he doesn't exactly care at the moment.)

The kiss is almost painful to break, but Dennis is tugging on his arm, sympathetic but insistent. It is time for them to go to the church, where Natalie McDonald will be waiting to become Natalie Creevey. It is Dennis and Natalie’s day, Colin knows, and he doesn’t begrudge them at all.

Because Harry and he have something, and it’s new and sweet and ticklish, even.

And Harry must be noticing it, too.
Because he is here, after all, and Colin never invited him.
