Dumbledore as archetype

There's been a lot of discussion in the HP books regarding Dumbledore's character, especially since HBP came out. I've often wondered what made him both fascinating and frustrating as a character, and it all comes back to his role as the quintessential wizard-mentor in the books. Thought I'd share some of my rambled thoughts :)
