Maybe rain isn’t so bad?!

Hermione Granger looked out of the window of her little cottage and sighed. It was still raining, and she was sick of tired of seeing the rain. It had been raining for the last few weeks and even though she liked the rain, it was enough now. She had been feeling down for some days and she knew that the rain had played a huge part in it - it was always easier to be happy when the sun was shining.

But she also knew that the rain wasn’t the only reason why she felt so down. A few days ago, she had opened the Daily Prophet to found the announcement which was the reason for her bad mood. Ron Weasley was getting married. And nope, he wasn’t marrying her because apparently she just was better off to be his friend and he was madly in love with some other girl called Leandra Merryweather. He had met her during his Auror training and she was everything he had ever wanted. And yes, Hermione was happy for him but seeing that announcement just made her realize that she was alone while all their friends were getting married. Ginny and Harry had tied the knot shortly after the war had ended, Neville and Luna followed after that and even Pansy Parkinson had found someone who was willing to put up with her. So why was she still alone?

And why didn’t Ron tell her face to face that he was getting married? Weren’t they best friends or did that change for him after they had their short relationship? Hermione knew that this was what hurt the most - not the fact that he was marrying someone else who wasn’t her - but that he wasn’t man enough to tell her to her face.

“Rain, rain go away. Come again another day,” she softly sang to herself while continuing to gaze out of her window. She was sitting on her windowsill holding a hot cup of tea and had a book on her lap which she had been reading the whole morning. It was the weekend and Hermione knew that Harry and Ginny were busy with preparing for the wedding - Ginny had told her so in her last letter and said that she was sad that she couldn’t see Hermione that weekend. So Hermione had decided to stay at home and use the weekend to relax. So she slept late, had breakfast, and then decided to finish her book. And that was what she had been doing for the last hour until her thoughts drifted away.

Okay, Hermione, back to your book. Thinking about Ron’s marriage isn’t going to make your mood better-she thought and focused her attention on her book again.

And that’s how she was still sitting there one and a half hour later when she suddenly heard the sound of someone Apparating on her front porch. Who would visit her on such a rainy day? And why didn’t they use the Floo network? Slowly Hermione stood up and went to the door. Maybe someone had come to her house by fault but no, you couldn’t just mistakenly Apparate to someone’s house. She looked through the peephole and gasped at what she saw.

What is he doing here? Hermione asked herself and thought about not opening the door. But he could see that her lights were on - he had to be blind to not see it. So that choice was out of the window.

You can do this, Hermione. She slowly opened the door and shivered when the cold air hit her skin.

“What are you doing here?” She asked him and saw how drenched he was.

“Oh, I thought someone else lived here,” he said and Hermione could hear the sarcasm in his voice. “Why do you think I’m here? I came to see you.”

“But why? I mean, the weather’s horrible so why bother with going out?” Hermione asked him and shivered again. Damn, it was way too cold for September.

“Can I come in? It’s fucking cold out here and I don’t want to freeze to death,” he said and Hermione bit her lip. Was it such a good idea to let him in? But he was right - it was way too cold.

“Yes, come in,” she opened her door wider and closed it as soon as he was through the door.

Silently she watched as he used a Drying Spell on himself before shrugging out of his coat. He was looking good but this was no surprise to Hermione. He had always looked good and it pained her to admit this. Even when he was younger he was good looking and since then he had definitely grown into his looks.

“Do you want some tea? I just made myself some a while ago and it was too much. It should still be warm,” she asked him and he nodded. “Okay, well… you know where the living room is. I’ll be right back.”

Hermione went into the kitchen and fixed his tea. It saddened her that she still knew how he drank his tea - always two spoons of sugar no matter which sort of tea it was. She took a deep breath and went back to her living room. He was sitting on her sofa and she thought of how he fit perfectly into her home.

“Here’s your tea. I already added the sugar,” Hermione sat down on her windowsill again and looked at him. She had never realized that her sofa faced both the window and the telly. How did she do that?

“Thanks and I’m sorry for just appearing on your porch.” He sipped his tea and Hermione smiled a little.

“It’s okay. I just… wasn’t expecting you,” she answered, and he knew what he really meant.

She hadn’t expected him to ever come back her. Not after everything went so wrong between them.

“There’s more I need to apologize for. I was a jerk to you, Hermione. I know it and I also know that you were right by dumping me. I promised you - to be there for you - but at the first problem, I bolted. And even then you forgave me and I continued to mess up. And I understand why you dumped me then. It was the right thing to do. And yes, I slept around afterwards and it hurt you even more but I realized that I can’t live without you.” He stopped there and Hermione looked at him wide eyed.

“And I know that you won’t take me back and I’m probably the last person on your mind now that the Weasel is getting married but I just wanted to get this out. And I’ll go now.” He stood up and Hermione knew that time was running out. Would she risk getting hurt again? But there was always a risk in life.

“Wait. You don’t need to go.” She took him by his hand. “You hurt me, but you know that. And I know that you’re not a person who apologizes easily so I know how hard this must be for you. And I know that you could hurt me again, but I think I’m willing to take the risk because life is always risky. And maybe you’re the one who will make me happy for the rest of my life. So who would I be to turn you away?” Hermione tugged at his hand and he came to stand in front of her. “So yes, I’m willing to give you another chance.”

He started to smile and gave her a slow kiss which made feel Hermione whole again. She knew that once upon a time she thought that only Ron would be able to make her feel like that but now she was sure, the man in front of her was the one.

“I’m glad that you’re back, Draco. I missed you even though I didn’t admit it,” she whispered and kissed him again before noticing that it had stopped raining.
