(to make up for my lack of discussion lately, I bring you commentary and reaction gifs aplenty)
YAY THE GANG'S ALL HERE AND THEY'RE ALL BAMFs
but that's because at Hogwarts these days EVERYTHING IS AWFUL AND EVERYTHING HURTS.
Although the Room of Requirement hideout setup sounds totally awesome
Then Ginny is all like
to Cho. I kinda feel sorry for Cho here. Cho-haters will prob argue with me on this, but although there's a possibility she still has some feelings for Harry, I don't think she really has any ~ ulterior motives~ in wanting to take him to the common room. I think she was looking for a chance to patch things up with Harry while helping him out at the same time.
But I'm glad Luna went instead, because more Luna is always a good thing imho. I can't remember off the top of my head, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first time someone other than the trio uses the cloak?
More pontificating: Wit and logic aren't traits exclusive to Ravenclaws, as we see with Hermione and others, so couldn't some people easily break into the common room by working out the riddle? Doesn't seem like the most secure system to me. Though you could argue that using passwords isn't entirely secure either.
but anyway let's get to more important stuff here: OMG WE GET TO SEE THE INSIDE OF THE COMMON ROOM. AND IT SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL AND AWESOME.
I can't wait to see how they've designed it for the movie. Unless they cut out this scene or moved it somewhere else. In that case, I'm gonna be pissed.
but wait...what's this? AN AMBUSH???
WE'RE ALMOST AT THE BATTLE. SHIT IS ABOUT TO GET REAL-ER.

Now that I remember, Snape hid under Harry's cloak near the end of PoA. And the Marauders used it, ofc. But to be more specific: did the trio ever have ~invisible adventure times~ with anyone else? I can't remember...
I agree with your comment about Cho. I love that, even after everything that happened with Marietta, Cho still wants to fight the good fight, and she isn't painted as the 'evil ex-girlfriend', the same way this book Dean and Michael are not demonised for having had relationships with Ginny, and also Lavender with Ron. A bad writer would have capitalised on that opportunity to make the exes into bad guys but JKR just shows how much bigger this all is, and how people really work. It's such a small, little thing but it's one of my favourite things about Jo's writing. I hope we get to see Cho in the movie, especially as in the movie world it was her who betrayed the DA, in which case it will mean even more that she's there. Oh and another thing I love about this chapter? DEAN AND SEAMUS' HUG. Pleeeeease be in the movie!
I think Cho is a more mature character than some people give her credit for. She handled Cedric's death a lot better than teenagers I know irl. After GoF, Cho was looking for a coping mechanism more than a boyfriend, which book-Harry epically fails at being (bless his heart). Was hooking up with Harry a bad idea? Probably. But she could've done far worse things after his death. And just the fact that she comes back and shows she wants to be on Harry's side, despite their rocky relationship, shows that she's willing to put the past behind her and do what's important.
omg yes I ♥ the Dean/Seamus bromance here. They didn't really spend much time developing the supporting cast in the films, so I kind of doubt they'll leave that in, though. :/
