All I want to know is if I was the only one who thought that the vagueness regarding what happened to Arianna to be really unsetting?

No. But sometimes the less one knows the better

i agree. i hate that everyone has their own conclusion about it, but i think that's what jkr wants.
for example, i don't think arianna was sexually abused in any way even though that's the common assumption. i don't know what i think happened, but the thought of a little girl being raped or abused in the series is too dark for my mind to process or accept.
i kind of hope she tells us exactly what happened, someday.

No, but I think that was the point. Nothing is scarier than what you conjure up in your own imagination, right?

Very unsettling to me too, though I disagree with the common theory that she was sexually assaulted. It doesn't make sense to me that a situation like that would escalate in that way.

IDK, people can be fucking horrible.

For sure they can be. It just seems to me like if they were afraid of her, they'd be more likely to physically assault her. But of course these kinds of things often don't have a lot to do with logic.

I'm with you. After rereading that part, it doesn't make much sense to me, either.

ive always associated it in my mind with the plot of 'my sweet audrina' by v.c. andrews, which made it even more unsettling.
