mid nineties: bathtubs, showers, bathroom styles, and kitchen furniture, appliances, and styles
I'm writing a scene set in a mid-nineties neighborhood similar to the ones the Dursley's lived in.
Would such a house be likely to have a shower? Would the shower be in a tub? Or could I believably have a walk in shower? Might any room besides the bathroom have a shower? (A garden shed? Somewhere else?)
What sort of materials would the shower be under the shower? A tiled floor? A cement floor? A porcelain bathtub? A claw-foot tub? Something else?
What other sorts of bath arrangements might exist? And what materials would they use? (porcelain, tile, metal, colored metal, plastic...)
What could I expect to find in the kitchen of such a house? Would electric appliances such as a mixer be the norm? What sort of tables, counters, or other work surfaces might I encounter?
