I'm so glad you liked it! "My" Neville is normally more submissive so it was a challenge to find a way to make him a Top without losing his personality, but I'm glad you liked how it all turned out. :) Besides, I'm quite a fan of romantic kink!

I like the way you negotiate your Neville into being more dominant; having read your comment to bryonyraven, I can see where your writing voice stumbles in his characterization (I don't mean this as a criticism), and it happily coincides with where I think Neville should stumble in his actions. It really works for me that he is so hesitant here. I think your development of Neville's dominance---the crisis of perhaps losing Lavender; the research he does; his working through of how he views Lavender and sex and what it means to be a gentleman; his growing realization that he does, at least, in part, like what he's doing---rings true, as well---and thank you for the safe word!

I enjoyed the sex. That said, my favorite thing about this fic is how much it is a character study of Neville. My second favorite thing is how you characterize Lavender as sexually in touch with her needs, but not a slut. So many people demonize her in fic because she had the nerve to be written as a teenaged girl in HBP, and that has always vexed me. Lovely fic!

Thank you for all the kind words. It was a challenge to get Neville's voice right. I'm honest in that I don't like storiese where he (or other characters) automatically become sex god/desses despite being shown in canon that they're socially awkward or shy or inexperienced. I love him so showing him throwing himself into something because he needs to do this or else seemed to fit in with how I view him.

I think poor Lavender gets short shrift a lot of the time. I like her and I think JKR did her a disservice in HBP by turning her into an over the top ditzy girl with no redeeming values (what a Gryffindor, huh?) when she'd been that way before. As you said, she's a teenaged girl, most of us were once.

As for the safe word, well, yes. It helps to put some modicum of reality into things doesn't it?
