Okay so...because I have the most awesome flist in the universe...
I thought I would toss this out to see if anyone would be interested in this...
You see, I've volunteered myself (willingly) to the United Way campaign committee we have at work. I don't quite know what our goal is yet, but I'm super excited to do my part to help raise money....just ask d_n_me94 (my committee chair).
One of the projects we will be doing is a Basket "Auction"... I say "auction" because it's more like a silent auction in that we don't do the whole bidding thing out loud...but you CAN see each bid on the paper...and can out bid others. Last year, my friend, sugarplumfaery9 and I did a yarn basket with hooks and needles. It was fun.
This year, I've been thinking about other things I could do...and boy am I out of control. Like the "Teddy Bear Picnic" one I want to do (with peanut butter, jelly, bread, Bugle chips, juice boxes, etc) or the fact that I am going to offer up a lapghan for one of the baskets... But the one I was going to ask for help with was something I thought of today.
I want to do one that's themed "Around the World". And I was wondering if anyone wanted to help me out on this, since I have friends everywhere... I was initially thinking of asking/begging for interesting snacks/sweets from your area (and in the case of my stateside friends, what's something that's regional/local to your area)... But as I was typing this...I also wondered if anyone willing to help me with this would be willing to send something like a postcard, or map of your area, or some kind of tourist brochure (especially if it's something you can get for free -- you know like a lot of visitor's bureaus places have....) of a local attraction. Even if it's some silly freebie you got from some event you attended recently...I still think it would be cool.
In exchange, I will send you a crocheted goodie and/or, if you wish, some kind of local/regional snackage/sweet....and my undying affection for your help. I won't use your name or anything on this (unless you want me to) just your general location so that interested bidder have an idea of where the things are coming from...
Please? Pwetty Pwease? The money raised from the sale of the basket goes to help local do-gooder organizations. And our overall goal this year is $9.6 MILLION (US). I'm pretty sure my little library is only going to have to raise a couple thousand...but I do think I could get a pretty good bid for this basket...
