I'm sure after nearly 2 weeks of being back that I will forget things to post about this LONG overdue post...but anyone who was there will remind me of the important stuff.
So, I posted upon my return from Terminus about my misadventure in getting to the Stephenie Meyer thing already. But autograph acquired, and gift appropriately fangirled....I also ran into
apythia and
tjwritter at the event, but didn't see anyone else who told me they were going to be there.
freakyartychick and I made it back to the hotel, JUST as the luggage was getting to our room. Because of the non-adventures of the day, we hadn't really eaten ALL DAY...and it was now close to 10 pm. So, we gathered what wits we had left, and went down to the lobby to find food. We ended up at the pub, Kitty O'Shea's and there was some Irish music playing. Mom liked it, so I bought her a CD.
torn_portfolio and
photograficnerd met up with us after we finished our food, and Mum went to bed, while we girls hung out. And eventually, freakyartychick and I went back to the room for some sleep...
Wednesday brought the Wrock. And the beginning of the scrap blanket of DOOM!!! See, I fell for it again. A bet with
dragonsinger954. The bet was to start AND finish a scrap blanket while at Terminus. We found and met up with
lezlishae,
laci_l, and a few others...who else did I run into that day? So, Mom and I caught a few shows...mostly because I was sitting on a chair in the corner listening, and crocheting. This got a few comments because apparently I was going pretty fast and impressing people with my method of crocheting (as in the whole not looking while I'm doing it.). About halfway through the day, I nearly tripped
quietish as I sat on the floor waiting for ...something (why was I there?)...and re-met
sociallyawkrd (and husband). And I'm sure I met MORE people too...but the memories are fading to picture moments...
We grabbed another dinner at the pub, and went up to the ballroom for the headliners of the Wrock show. Now, this is where being a bit more mature can get me in a LOT of trouble. You see, I was RIGHT by the doors...2-3 people back from the doors...and they were a bit late opening them, but it's NOT like we weren't going to get a concert. So, there I am, and they start opening doors. Everyone has to show a wristband to get in...and as I'm starting to go in, people are literally RUNNING ME DOWN to get in. GEEEEESH!!! Seriously, I heard people behind me yelling "Push 'em through!" Excuse me. Do NOT push people. It's RUDE. I only stayed upright because whoever was letting people in at the door had a grip on my arm and was PULLING me in. But whatever. The concert began...and it wasn't TOO long before we got into trouble. No jumping? At a concert? Well, then, don't put a group below us. In fact...don't give us the second floor. *shakes head* Toward the end of my night, I got to meet
reallycorking!!!! *flails*
I know there was more there, but that's what I remember...
Thursday was even more fun. After some sleeping, we got ready...and I do believe this is the day I discovered that the hotel's "Starbucks" charges $6+ for a little can of Red Bull. Fortunately, we ran into
redstapler, who was a brilliant lifesaver. She not only knew where a grocery/drug store was, but she actually helped my mom find it!!! I had a DRAGONs meeting to attend, and I met up with
dragonsinger954 for that. From there, I went back to the room to get my blankets for display, give my mom a gift from the Minion, and get registered. Getting off the elevator with the admittedly MASSIVE pile of yarn got me more than a few stares...but it also let everyone know just who was walking through the halls...because who else would be THAT dorky? Okay, so anyway. I ran into
elvenlaughter and
dozmuffinxc. I got registered, dropped off my stuff and
pennswoods's art, and headed back out. I did something between that and my next meeting which was the Leaky Staff meeting....but I don't remember what. Probably wandered...or something. I got videoed by MTV while I was in the meeting because I was crocheting....not interviewed...and it will probably never be posted. But they DID video me...and
dragonsinger954...and
quietish. Go Crafty Witches!!!
I left that meeting because
jem_endured_fit had arrived and I ran to meet her! There was much glomping and squeeing in the lobby. We went back to the room for a bit before dinner. Then came food time. The food? Meh. I tells ya. They SAY deep dish..but that wasn't DEEP dish. *rolls eyes* And again we got in trouble for being "noisy". After dinner, we saw
alabastard and I got to give him a gift. *still giggling about that* (I gave him a little bag with a diary and a sock stuffed in it.) Then
jem_endured_fit, Mum and I joined other Snape fans at the Waking Severus intersection (we weren't signed up, so we TOTALLY crashed it, but that's okay). I also got to see
alabastardragon and give him the gift Mum and I brought for him (a little bag with a homemade albino ferret stuffed in it.). I left briefly to watch some of the trivia stuff, but went back to the wake (who all did I meet there?). Turns out I had missed the free round of drinks that some lovely couple had ordered. So,
jem_endured_fit, the good buddy she is, brought that to their attention and got me one too! :D Was this the night we stayed there and got Mike and Ryan to kiss? Yeah, Mol and I got two straight guys to kiss outside the hotel....and I got it on film!!!
*ponders*
Okay, moving on. Friday. Friday was the meetup for the Crafters. And it was there, while I was being anti-social and sitting on the floor that I finished my Terminus scrap blanket. Gave myself a new record too. Two days. From start to finish. TWO days. YEeeeesh. But shortly after meet up, I got an intense case of nerves. I was about to give my first presentation. *eeps* Surprisingly, the presentation seemed to go well. I was told 24 could fit in the room, 30 at max. And I ended up with 33 ...had people on the FLOOR for my presentation (one of them Brad from Draco and the Malfoys). I don't know how instructional it actually WAS...but it was cool. I did a drawing for the Terminus blanket I made for the presentation. I hung out with
elvenlaughter (who gave me art) and taught her more crochet...I think. That night we went...hmmm...oh, yeah. This was Epic Burger night. We (me, Mum,
jem_endured_fit,
laci_l,
lezlishae,
nature_dude, and
freakyartychick) left the hotel intending to find some pizza place, but it was a bit too busy...so we traveled some more and found Epic Burger. Pretty epic let me tell you. Following dinner, we went back to the hotel and took over the craft room. And bonded over crafts and corn. After that we...what DID we do? OH...I got a lovely piece of art from
torn_portfolio. She gave me her first ever crochet piece!!! Dobby's THONG! *giggles like mad* What else did we do? Did we just hang there for the night? Or did I go back to the bar? *totally doesn't remember* I remember we also hung with
lindseymoongirl,
jedipirate and
elseinane at various points. And there were a few times I was randomly accosted in the halls for crochet instruction or questions.
Saturday, we were awakened by the Donut Patrol at 6 am. We nommed donuts provided by
lezlishae (and crew)...and fell asleep again. Later that morning, it was Mum's and my turn to present together. We presented on Families in Fandoms. We had about 20 people...and it was fun to have the Malfoys and the Weasleys snarking at the presentation. From there, we got lunch (KFC bowls of sadness --yeah, thanks for that,
stupid_drawings-- was this day, maybe?)...then I think I went back to the room for a while, and was later joined by
dragonsinger954. She made Trevor a Molly while we chatted and crafted. We went down for the Twilight Intersection and got some funny pics from that. I'm sure we acquired more food...but can't remember from where...or was this the night we walked all over and ended up eating at the pub because everything was closing SO early. Then a bunch of us went to
lezlishae's presentation on her duct tape bags...and it was AWESOME. I think me and my roommates went back to the room at that point for a while. Then, we went out again for Authors and Artists night. And I got two incredible pieces of art that night. I got a drawing of a Snape!Dalek....from someone sitting with
tripperfunster...and I got some Bill and Fleur art from
supes_. I will post both of those when I unearth my scanner. This was also the night I had to say goodbye to quietish who was hitting the road on Sunday morning...
Sunday was a lazy day of just running about catching up with people and the day of the Mol!grid (
nature_dude dressed as Molly...or as Hagrid dressing as Molly or a polyjuiced Hagrid...or does polyjuice work on Hagrid...with his half giant blood?).. I ended up going to the art gallery and taking down my art in the early afternoon because I knew I wouldn't have time later. And I took them all back to my room for the night. We ordered Giordano's in for dinner. OMG. 2 inch thick cheese pizza. *gorge* And then the BALL!!!! I wasn't really dressed up or down for it. I went in Ceilia's robes...but that costume is JUST not ready yet. So, instead, I ran around in jeans and t-shirt and my Weasley Bling (glowsticks). And I got a rose from War Veteran Snape... Here I had to say goodbye to my sweet minion and her son. After the ball, a bunch of us met up and hung out in the "common room." Singing and laughing..until too tired, we all went to bed.
Monday dawned and it was mania packing, repacking, shuffling and shoving. We went down to breakfast and I was immediately on the hunt for
droxy. I needed to find her to gift her with the Death Eater blanket (which incidentally was the blanket that seemed to get the most feedback --and it was mostly "OMG, that's awesome! I want!" To which my reply was, "You'll have to fight
droxy for it then"--). I finally located her (and only because I had EVERYONE on the lookout for her for me.)... and had one less thing to take home. Back at the room, we finished our packing up and went down to the lobby to finish paying and check out. Another hour as we said our sad goodbyes to everyone (and resisted the vendor room again)....and then we were on our way.
jem_endured_fit and I kept up a stream of text messages as we went home in opposite directions...updating each other on our progress. And imagine that...we got home only 1/2 an hour later than we should have. Now WHY couldn't that have happened on the way there? Monday was a blur as I had to run to Wal-Mart pretty much as soon as we got home to get hair dye to get rid of the blue. And because I didn't want to miss my wake up call for
freakyartychick's flight. I hungout in the living room all night, reading, crocheting, and watching TV, while checking the internet for everyone to get home. And before the sun was up on Tuesday, I helped
freakyartychick get her stuff loaded in my car and took her to the airport. Within another hour, she, too, was gone. I had to call mom on my way home (before 5 am) and I cried a fair bit. Then, back home, I took a hour long nap, then got up and got ready for work.
Tuesday was only hellish because I had to BE at work. But it was sad too...because I was missing my Terminus family already. *gets weepy*
I waited until the following Monday to send Trevor the Toad home. (
pennswoods had sent Trevor to me with her art so that I could take him around Terminus.)
In short? I made a LOT of new friends...and met up with a LOT of old friends. It makes me sad that I will most likely not be attending an HP con next year. *sigh* Now, I have to work up a crochet post.
