If it wasn't one thing, it's another...

Well, closing has been…tumultuous to say the least.  First we had issues with my student loans.  They said I could do one thing and ended up not telling me everything I needed to do to get it done.  Once we thought we got that settled, we thought we were in the clear.  Um, yeah, we were wrong.  The appraiser didn’t do his job and stopped responding to the requests the underwriters were making for changes.  We needed to have everything turned late Friday, early Monday to meet the original closing date of tomorrow.  When that didn’t happen, we started shooting for a Monday closing.  However, the attorney’s didn’t have a closing on Monday, they could only do Friday at noon.  All a while, not knowing when I was closing, I’m exploring all my options for housing since my lease is up Monday and can’t be extended because they’ve already rented it to another tenant.  At one point today, I had it planned that I would move all my stuff into storage this weekend, the foster kitties would go to PetSmart adoption center (which they still are), Kali was going to live with my parents, I was going to live with my best friend, and we’d move everything again next weekend.  And then the appraisal got done, the final approval came through, the paperwork has been sent to the Bond Closing Team on a rush, and I’m set to close on Friday and move on Saturday… if the paperwork makes it to and from Richmond in time.

And then I came home tonight to find my A/C not working.  I’ve had to open all the windows and keep spraying the foster kitties with the water bottles every time they go to climb on them. At this point, I’m not going to ask what else could go wrong, because as soon as I do, something will happen.

On a bright note, the townhome looks really good.  We did the walk through on Monday, blue tape got stuck in many places - issues were cosmetic and the two construction issues were addressed.  The first was that the roofers left a block used to stabilize the ladder to get to the 2nd story during construction nailed to the roof of the storage shed.  They were coming back to fix the shingles that have holes in it.  The more major screw up was with the patio.  When I signed my contract, I was told that if I purchased an extended patio, that it would be to the side and cover the area between the standard patio and the storage shed.  Well, apparently the first foreman didn’t read the plans correctly and didn’t pour the extension.  When the current foreman went thru all the plans and realized that the extension wasn’t done, he called the sales person.  Instead of calling and consulting me, she made the decision to put it out the back.  Um, yeah, nope.  So now their tearing that up, I have a small enough yard as it is, and putting the same square footage of concrete where I want it so I won’t have to walk through landscaping to get to storage.

They were supposed to finish up the landscaping yesterday and this morning so they can get the final inspections done.  Course, if that doesn’t happen, no one is closing until they do pass.

Ok, off to work on packing/cleaning.
