Somehow, he had thought it would hurt more.
They were his friends, after all. And as a friend, he was supposed to die to protect them. He had been chosen for this very reason, after all.
Instead, here he is, standing, in front of them. Lily and James.
It's not like he hasn't seen corpses before, so it's not because of the shock.
And their death was actually his fault, so at least he should have felt guilt, or shame.
Then, his eye catches a pair of glasses, without any red stain, lying broken in the grass.
He starts retching.
