It wasn’t Spot.
That was what Remus was trying to say, in between tears. His mother was wiping off the blood and telling him everything would be all right, but she was also saying that Spot was a naughty dog, and that wasn’t true.
Remus wanted to tell his father about the big grey dog that had been waiting by the slide, but Dad had gone out in the car with Spot. He’d taken Spot away very quickly though, so perhaps they’d be back soon as well.
Then Remus could tell them what happened, and no one would be cross.
