A/N: I like to think that the apple fell very far from the tree, in the case of little Scorpius Malfoy. And the idea of the little geeky boy asking to be called ‘Data’ as a nickname is totally a nod to The Goonies. Oh - and DH spoilers for all of these.
Scorpius Malfoy was nothing like his family expected. For one thing, he liked Muggle things. His greatest love was Muggle science fiction. When he started Hogwarts, he actually asked his housemates to call him ‘Data.’
That was a mistake. The other Ravenclaws all laughed at him, and Scorpius decided he didn’t want to know what kids in the other Houses would say.
It didn’t matter. He had his most prized possession - the Muggle computer he had begged his mother to buy him - and he could always cheer himself up playing computer games, or reading fan fiction.
He didn’t need friends.

“What are you doing?”
Scorpius looked up. Rose Weasley had sat down beside him.
“Reading,” Scorpius said.
“Oh. I actually thought you were playing with some sort of toy, you looked like you were having so much fun.”
Scorpius smiled. “Well, I’m reading a fun story. It’s about the characters from a Muggle T.V. show, Star Trek. It’s called fan fiction - fans of one story imagine new ones about the original.”
Rose looked confused.
“Like, if you made up your own story about a person from Beedle’s Tale.”
“Oh. That sounds interesting, Sc - ”
“Please, call me ‘Data.’”
“OK, Data.”

A/N: Alternate ending to Fan Fiction? I had meant to write one nerd!Scorpius drabble, and ended up writing a whole bunch. Oh - and I changed around the names I refer to (no cousin 'Albus Severus Potter,' for example - and no 'Sirius Remus Hedwig Dobby Alastor Tonks Potter,' either) to make this fit better with my humour, post-DH AU,
Exclusive! universe. Because Scorpius 'Data' Malfoy fits right in there.
“Data? That’s a funny name.”
Oh, no, Scorpius thought. Not her, too - she seemed so nice...
“Mind you, my brother’s Hugo, my mum’s Hermione, and one of my aunts is Fleur. Those are also funny names.”
Scorpius relaxed. “Data’s after my favourite Star Trek character. You’d understand if you saw the show.”
Rose looked thoughtful.
“I heard Malfoys aren’t nice,” she said, “but you are.”
“My family and I are different. For one thing, they - don’t like Star Trek. They probably wouldn’t like me playing with you, either.” Scorpius shrugged. “I don’t mind, though - breaking rules.”

Characters/pairings: Draco, Pansy, Scorpius, Mary Sue, Ron, Harry
Warning: This drabble treats a divorce in a rather flippant way, which may seem callous or hurtful to people who’ve gone through this situation and who are sensitive. Also, there is some language.
“You’ve spoiled him too much, you bitch! He spends all his time playing Muggle games and transfiguring his robes into shirts with - pictures from Muggle books on them!”
“They’re not from books, they’re from Tee-Vee Shows. Don’t you even listen to your son, asshole? And anyway, if you hate Muggle things, why did you marry that Muggleborn tart over there?”
“Mary - ”
“Oh, yes, Mary-Sue, Dwaco’s Twu Wuv - ”
Scorpius’ head was bowed; he stood as far from his parents (and their new spouses) as possible.
Ron tapped Harry’s shoulder.
“You know, I never thought I’d feel so sorry for a Malfoy.”
