As everyone prepared to leave Privet Drive, Harry realized the cage wasn’t fitting properly in the sidecar. He jostled and banged it around while Hedwig grumbled and groused, until Tonks leaned over from her broom.
“Why don’t you let me take her, Harry?” she suggested, and offered him a cage with one of the white owl-dolls in it instead. Harry didn’t like the idea at all, but he knew Hedwig would probably hate the noise and vibration of the motorcycle. Reluctantly he agreed to the switch.
Later he was grateful, as he watched the decoy tumble out of the sky.
