Severus looked at Dumbledore with hurt, fear, and a bit of revulsion as the latter smiled serenely down at him. “Must I?” Snape asked.
“I believe it shall turn out for the best,” Dumbledore said with maddening certainty, those eyes sparkling as they always did.
Severus looked down at the ground and was surprised to find that he was still standing. How could he continue to stand, to breathe, to live, whilst his world was crumbling beneath him? He hated that it had come to this. He thought of green eyes, and sighed.
“Fine,” he said curtly. “I will teach.”
