Moody should have known better than to count on Mundungus Fletcher for anything. It was a mistake, and no one knew better than Mad-Eye Moody that in a battle one mistake was all it took. One lapse in judgment and that was the end.
Better me. He thought, as the green light of the dark Lord’s killing curse sped towards him, too quickly to shield against. Better me that it should be me, then one of the young ones.
Alastor Moody never expected to survive the war but he’d hoped to last longer, be of more use before he fell.
