She would be here. He knew from the unshaven, whiskery weeds scratching affections into his ankles, the willows tossing their tresses as they laughed into the wind. This sloping meadow was hers, by no earthly boundaries, but by the essence of her, resonant, tangible.

He grasped the gravelly, craterous bark, eyes distinguishing her shape lowering from a bough. Worn garden-boots, white-cotton dress sluicing from her waist like so many laughing willow branches.

Her feet and mouth kissed grass and Harry simultaneously, respectively, and from then on his presence would be here too, in Luna’s field, in the whiskers and the willows and the wind.
