The Cruciatus curse, Harry recalled, lasted an eternity.
Blood he almost felt seeping through his skin marked the genesis of time, awakened by the piercing of imaginary white-hot knives. Infernal dawn broke into the dark horizon as he envisioned metal shearing against flesh, frayed tissues trailing in futile dams against the treacherous inundation from the river of life. Scarlet waves heaved and threatened to slit his mind while a defiant heartbeat echoed each thunderous pounding to immortalize his every second in this tempest of pain.
An eternity, Harry suspired, that would soon dissipate in the fast flash of Avada Kedavra.
