Draco awakens; except Snape and this place are both long gone. Memory returns - a complex spell and a simple question: ‘What happens if I refuse Snape’s advice?’ Draco’s answers have cost seven years of his life; that’s ok. He’s sick with relief that he can set them aside, start over.
‘Try again?’ whispers Snape, beyond exhaustion. ‘Another question?’
Draco eases Snape down onto the cot. ‘Get some sleep.’
