The Burden of Pride, A Look Backstage, Counting Chickens

Author's Notes: It's been ages, but I felt inspired. I hope I'm not too out of practice.
When Draco woke he was aware of nothing but a cold, stone floor and pain. A dull, endless pain. His eyelids slowly opened and he saw his mother also on the floor, as gray and limp as an old rag doll. The roar of blood in his ears was slowly replaced by a voice.
“…You have failed me too, Severus. I’ve lost my spy in The Order of the Phoenix and why? Because your pride wouldn’t stand for Bellatrix questioning. Your only pride should be in serving me! CRUCIO!”
Draco watched Snape crumple before being once again claimed by unconsciousness.

“I can’t tell you that, you’ll just have to trust me. Even behind the curtain some things cannot be revealed.”

Dobby left Hogwarts free and with the whole world in front of him! Never again would he be a slave. His opportunities were endless.
A night without food or shelter changed Dobby’s mind considerably. The elves he thought of as friends shut the door in his face. Alone, without a family, his house elf magic was limited. Suddenly his opportunities weren’t so endless.
“Please, sir. You is looking like a nice family. You will be wanting an elf to take care of you! I is only needing very little paying.”
So Dobby returned to the place where his freedom began.
