He sucked in his breath and let it out very slowly. He couldn’t calm the furious beating of his heart. He felt his insides twist in nervous anticipation, and he felt his hands go clammy.
Merlin help him, it was worse than facing all those Death Eaters in battle.
He tugged at his heavy robes and checked his shoes for any dark scuffs.
Taking one last deep breath, he walked forward.
“Uhm, I was wondering…”
“What?”
“Well, it’s Christmas, and… and I was… I was wondering if you’d dance with me?”
“I thought you’d never ask.”
The gamble paid off.
