It doesn’t seem right somehow.
There should have been a wake. There should have been drinking, and reminiscing. We should have poured a glass for Sirius and left it there all night, in case he decided to show up. We should have toasted his memory and his exploits, and found within us the will to laugh with him even across the gulf of death.
There should have been a funeral song. Something inappropriately rocky to play him out, to make us smile through our tears and say ‘yep. That was Sirius.’
Body or no body, we should have said Goodbye.
