I kneel before the Dark Lord. I pledge my allegiance to him, his cause. I speak the words that Father has literally beaten into me my whole life. When I am finished, He orders me to stand. He grabs my left arm and prods it with his wand. I feel a blinding pain shoot through my body, and I nearly pass out. When he finally lets go, I fall to my knees again. There is now the distinct image of a skull and snake burned into my reddened flesh.
“Thank you, my Lord,” I say. “I will not disappoint you.”
