As his elbow pierced the veil, he felt a cold trickling, like someone had punctured him there and his warm blood was running out. Before his eyes his life flashed like a rapid-fire film. His hateful mother. His spoiled brother. Hogwarts. His best friends. The wedding. His godson, Harry. Peter's betrayal. Sirius' vengeful heart. His reunion with Remus. His flight with Buckbeak. His return to fight.
By the time he realized what this meant, Sirius was through the veil, and gone.
Sirius was dead.
