Title: A Shining Path
Characters: Snape
Rating: PG
It was easy to choose a direction after leaving school. The Dark Lord was a shining beacon to the entire wizarding world. At last, someone who would stand up to the cowards in the Ministry, who would not bow to Muggles, who fully embraced every aspect of magic.
And even if taking the dark mark had been painful enough to make him pass out, it was worth it in the end. Bellatrix finally showing him respect (willingly or not), and Lucius kissing him formally, once on each cheek, and treating him as an equal.
His path had never been clearer.
Title: Last Chance
Characters: Snape
Rating: PG
It was done, gone. The veil had been ripped away and the truth was uglier than even what he had seen over the past few weeks.
Now he was trapped, his once-plentiful choices all made dead ends by his own blindness and pride. Now he had no choice but to continue on as he had been doing, feeling his soul tear a little more with each atrocity.
A memory flickered in his mind. Approaching Dumbledore would probably be another dead end, but it was a path, a choice where there had been none before, and he had to take it.
