Title: Death by Clothing
House: Hufflepuff
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Challenge: Liquor Is Quicker
Characters/Pairings: Ron Weasley, Mundungus Fletcher
Author's Notes: Pruned from a fic I wrote a while ago, I think. It wasn't a very good fic, but I liked this part.

Heaven, Ron Weasley knew at that moment, smelled like cheap liquor.

It wasn’t something he had ever thought was true before that moment, but now that a dress robe in the depths of Mrs. Black’s wardrobe had him in its dusty and deadly embrace he knew. Death shatters your perceptions of life and probably adds some new ones as well, he thought, feeling somewhat philosophical.

Death by clothing, he thought disgustedly, which is why when he discovered that the liquor smell was emanating from the visage of Mundungus Fletcher rather than the pearly gates he couldn’t help but be relieved.

Title: Ratting
House: Hufflepuff
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Challenge: Liquor Is Quicker
Characters/Pairings: Sirius Black, Kreacher
Author's Notes: Also pruned from a fic.

Sirius was a very good ratter. So was Kreacher. When the tasks of feeding Buckbeak and making Headquarters fit for habitation had arisen the two regularly ignored their mutual enmity for each other and dove into the task of rodent-trapping whole-heartedly.

But then things changed. Sirius grew angry and disgusted with his life, particularly with the rats. He began drinking too much and one night vowed that he was through catching rats. “Except one,” he added in a darkly threatening yet hopeless way.

And so at night Kreacher always caught rats while Sirius drank firewhiskey and stared into the fire.
