Theodore waited in the shadows of Malfoy Manor, nerves stretched tight. He jumped when she slid her hands around his waist. Resolutely, he pried her fingers away, "No, Pansy."
Affronted, she asked coldly, "What do you mean, no?"
"You aren't ever going to leave Draco, Pansy. We both know it." He fisted his hands at his side to keep from running his fingers through her hair, "I will starve to death, waiting for you."
Pansy searched his gaze and slowly nodded. As he turned to leave, she called out, "You know I love you."
His shoulders slumped, "But not enough."

Shrouded in the night air, Severus stared down at the grave, the screams in his head loud enough to drown out the loudest Quidditch match slowly receeding. Kneeling, he removed the leaves desecrating the grave and straightened the grass where the careless wind had knocked it flat.
He bowed his head and knelt at the foot of the grave, pleas for forgivness dying unspoken on his lips.
A noise alerted him and Severus rose gracefully, slipping off into the shadows of the woods. These stolen moments with Albus were the only time Severus felt like he wasn't starving to death.
