Title: Born Leader
Character[s]: A couple house elves and their little son.
Rating: [G]
Challenge: What's in a name?
House: Hufflepuff
Word Count: 100
Author's Notes: Don't know where it came from.

A female house-elf named Joan would have been weird if her parents had not pronounced it "Zjhwaahn".

They confided the year she was old enough to serve that she was named for a human who saved her country from English domination. That she would hopefully find some way to be free.

Zjhwaahn-spelled-Joan served till she died; but she found a husband called Martin, whose parents believed likewise. Together, they wove gifts over the child she would bear in time. He would be clever; enthusiastic; determined; and loyal to his chosen one.

His name?

"We'll call him Dobby."

Title: That Painting
Character[s]: Tonks, Mrs. Black [mention of Slugworth]
Rating: [G]
Challenge: What's in a Name
House: Hufflepuff
Word Count: 100 by Semagic
Author's Notes: For once the magic your mom tells you to use against other people -- finally works.

They were going to use the old house as Headquarters again; something had to be done about that painting.

Shortly after her hair turned pink again, Tonks had a brainstorm. No problem trading another bottle of Felix Felicitas for imported candied pineapple. She gulped it down, and shut herself away spellworking.

A week later, she flung open the curtains over the portrait of Sirius' mother. Immediately it began the shrieking, the name-calling.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me!"

Tonks tapped Mrs. Black on the nose with her wand. The woman fell silent.
