Author’s Notes: Used the lyrics of a song called “Blink” by Blue Scholars. I don’t know how well their style fits the Harry Potter world, but I decided to try it, ‘cause the lyrics were good. What I did was I infused the lyrics into the story, which is something I’ve never done before, so it’s an experiment. Hope you enjoy! (The lyrics are italicized.)
His father had romanticized the old war story: heroes-blood, guts, and glory. But now, after everything that happened in the tower that night, he realized that his father had held a critical mask in front of his face, and the only thing that had been between the heavenly future and a hell of a past was his own naivety.
He isn’t a child, but all he wants to do is cry himself to sleep. He closes his eyes, thinking if sleep be the cousin of death, then every time I blink it’s one step closer to my last breath.
