Author's Notes: Two beings thinking about one another without even realizing it.
She had been staring out at the lake with eyes that looked perpetually surprised. There was obvious sympathy in those eyes. She didn't believe it was a monster. It was guarding the castle, and all of them.
Below the surface of the water, the creature looked up at the castle, pity in its eye. The small creatures in the castle didn’t seem to realize that they were protected by so many creatures that they thought of as monsters.
Eye met eyes for an instant. Too far to see anything, they never saw the sympathy and pity they gave one another.
