The locket burned against his palm. He knew it would be his death, but he had no choice. Voldemort was more than merely a wizard obsessed with defeating death. He was a monster; there was no other word for it.
Grim humor pulled a pained smile to his lips; his parents would be dismayed. And Sirius would be proud.
