It’s critical... it’s critical... it’s critical...
The words were running through her mind like the current of a stream running downhill. She heard the same two words over and over, but she could never finish the sentence. It didn’t make sense in her mind anymore, and the words wouldn’t interlock and harmonize the way they did when Lucius first told her.
“No!”
The words clicked. She screamed. Grabbing her burning wrist, she protected her abdomen, bending forward on her knees.
“It’s critical you get marked as soon as possible. You wouldn’t want him thinking you’re a traitor.”
“But... my Draco...”
