"Hello! I knew you'd be back!"
She smiles at his delight. He leads her to his room. It's plain, but pretty. Smells nice. She gives him his present. Ogden's Old Firewhisky and a new peacock feather quill, like every year. By next Christmas, it'll be worn out. His gift to her is predictable.
"Your signature is getting better," she comments politely.
He beams with pride.
They chat for awhile. He's so happy.
When she says she must be going, his face falls.
"I'll come back next year." It's a promise.
He nods, sadly. "Alright. Merry Christmas, Hermione."
"Merry Christmas, Gilderoy."
