She knew the moment it happened, though it never occurred to her beforehand. The moment was all that mattered, moments too few gotten as Voldemort rose in power. With the war going on and friends dying all around, who would stop to think, to count? Who had the time?
She didn’t and neither did he.
Lily opened the bathroom door and picked up the little kit, not daring to look for the pink line and not really needing to. She knew the answer already. Her body no longer chastely followed the ebb and flow of the moon.
She was pregnant.

Some believe that humans are pure only after repenting their sins and denying the devil. Some believe that you can only be pure if you take out your enemies when you die.
Bellatrix knows better.
Purity can only be found in the darkest part of one’s soul, where the bad deeds, bad thoughts, and the demons lurk.
