She hears hoofs in the distance and, as inconspicuously as she can, steals over to the window. She can see the carriage approaching, a gleam of dark hair in the sunlight. Morfin moves next to her, saying nothing because Merope knows the truth about what happened to that Muggle last week, and their deal has not yet fallen through the cracks of their desperation.
Tom Riddle approaches and Merope stares intently, hoping that this time he’ll notice her. Being of the same, only Morfin notices the disgust in Tom’s eyes, not deviating from the path stretched out ahead of him.
