No one had ever seen her cry. Not on her wedding day, not when her father died, not when she received the Dark Mark, never. Bellatrix Lestrange just did not cry.
When the Dark Lord died, Bella sobbed hysterically.
Unsure, Rodolphus touched her gently, “Bella?”
“Go away!” She snarled, slapping his hand away, “I should have been there.” Rocking slightly, she dropped her head to her knees and keened, “I should have protected my Lord. I should have done something...”
“You should have done what?” Rodolphus shook her shoulders, fear for her starkly evident, “Watched as a baby killed Him?”

He grew up, miserable beyond telling for eleven years.
Making real friends, he tasted victory the first year.
He developed, in ways that delighted them, enough to win again the second year.
The third year brought real changes, their hearts sang with relieved joy at the end.
Bitter tears were shed at the end of the fourth, they made room for his friend.
The fifth year, shocked and grieving, they greeted an old friend.
The same for the sixth.
The seventh?
Well, they don’t have to watch anymore. None of them do.
