Author's Notes: I like doing this kind of challenge... the unexpected. Feels a bit disjointed. Might have to attack this one again.

He stared at the tattoo on his arm, writhing and glowing with the Dark Lord's call. On rare days he wondered if all the sacrifices had been worth it. The accusations of treachery, the tears from his now-lost friends. The disbelieving looks, especially from his old schooldays nemesis, who would also be answering their mutual master's call. He was not trusted by either side, but he had proved himself useful in the past year. He quickly donned his Deatheater robes and, spinning on the spot, Apparated to the Dark Lord's side.
In his master's presence, the scar on his forehead burned.
