Spoken as one who knows the many moods of water well. I love the way you've captured the turning of the year here as well as the squid's attempts to reach further. I am reminded, curiously, of Kosh's ship in Babylon 5, which I thought had a squid-like appearance and so I doubly enjoyed this!
