He knows why they call him Wormtail. He knows why they do it, why they smirk at him, call to him with such taunting malice.
He cannot remember how the Dark Lord came across his nickname. All he remembers now is the way they say it, two seemingly innocent syllables spoken with such hidden sarcasm. “Wormtail.”
Each time he hears the name it is another memory, another flashback to another time. Each time it is another Cruciatus Curse, another shot to the chest. Each time it is another reminder of his greatest sin.
They call him Wormtail because James did.
