She was enchantingly beautiful, intelligent, and as a credit to her taste, she liked me.
No one else understood why, and I admit at the time I didn't either.
I didn't understand friendships, only alliances, and the dynamics of power. Her heart was
unfathomable to me.
But his was not, the alabaster boy with cold eyes, who promised power if I was strong
enough.
So I chose.
I spat upon her friendship with one phrase, and the last I saw of her was when
she walked away forever.
Yet everyday I see her son, an infinite reminder of missed opportunities.
