Harry’s chest was heaving. He felt light-headed and his ears were ringing - the sheer power he was holding in check was dizzying.
“Harry,” said a timid, familiar voice, somewhere through the haze, “You can’t. It’s illegal.”
Harry looked down at Malfoy’s pinched, sniveling face. For a moment, his gray eyes lit up with the pathetic, desperate hope that Harry would be too noble to punish him when the Law had not. After all, Veritaserum confessions were inadmissible. No witnesses. Reasonable doubt.
Ron…I’ll never see Ron again.
“Laws are made to be broken,” Harry said smiling grimly, “Aren’t they, Draco? Crucio!”
