He ran his hand through the ruffled length of Lily's long red hair, enjoying the way the metallic strands wound around his wrist like fire. Her green eyes were impossibly pure against milky skin dusted with a splatter of freckles. "Lil, I love you."
"I know, James." Lily pressed her cool cheek against his, roughened from hours of Quidditch practice. "I will always love you."
"AAAAAAAAUGH!" James clawed frantically at the curtains, trying to scrape the nightmare from his mind. Quietly he lifted his Invisibility Cloak and slid from Gryffindor tower to his lover's bed.
"Luce? I had a nightmare …"
