The thing about the pee...
Here is the thing about the pee. It's not that we have a massive odor problem and that is why I cut out the carpet. In all honesty I could barely smell it (though I COULD smell it- D couldn't). It's that THE DOG can smell it and her instinct then is to re-pee. I cannot live with this. I doused that spot with everything short of bleach. The smell was still there (much like hang_5's cat pee under the bed). But cats don't feel the need to smell pee and then pee on the pee. STUPID DOGS.
In response to all your posts I totally laughed because the clear message was a resounding "yeah, don't do THAT again." Don't worry, guys. The sight of my Frankestein carpet has already convinced me never to take that route again. I think we will end up re-carpeting. It's a small room so it should only cost us a couple hundred bucks. But again, I just wish we could do it ourselves. I feel like pretty much everything in a house aside from electrical and plumbing is totally doable by the homeowner. If only we knew how. And alas, we do not.
I AM however quite gratified to hear that everyone has a pee problem. That makes me feel less like a loser.
