I have arrived safely back at home and am strangely extremely excited to be back. 2 very important discoveries were made on this trip, one by the ocean and the other on the airplane.
1. I must find travel partners with greater appretiations for how fantastic nature is. This I discovered by the ocean near sunset while i gasped in awe of the beauty that surrounded me and was yanked in the other direction by my companions who wanted to see the big houses in Bel-air before it was too dark. oceans are wonderful. in my future life, I think i will live by one, or at least visit very very often.
2. I've discovered that i'ved been duped these past nearly 15 years regarding the tru identity of my younger sister Dupe. as it turns out, she and i both discovered today, Dupe is not her first name at all. We found this out when we were checking out our passports and realised her name was in the wrong order. my mom then told us that it was the right order and then explained that Modupe was only my sisters middle name and that Oluwatosin was her first name. my mom thought that we both knew this bit of information. Cleary she, like my sister and myself, was misled. The name Modupe Oluwatosin Daodu that we thought was the correct name for lil' sis now must be changed in our collective conciousness to Oluwatosin Modupeoluwa Daodu. This discovery filled me with many minutes of sheer amusement and hours of residual amusement.
L.A. was a good time and almost exactly what I expected, besides that it was a little cold and gave me little time to work on my tan. Universal studios had some pretty steller rides and since it was a slow season we got to go over and over because the lines were really short and we had passes for two day. We drove to south central and Compton. the transportation lady was very surprised that we wanted to go there. we didn't however go INTO compton because we were warned by people (who i suspect were drug dealers) in south central not to go there. the drive by was good enough and mom had her black people fix in south central.
we found a really good chinese restaurant on hollywood blvd that we ate at everyday. it was run by a guy from guatemala and an old chinese man who made all the food. we became good friends with the guatemalan and at the end of our stay gave him some canadian money because he was interested in how it looked. he, in return gave us some guatemalan money... which is very cool looking.
i got a lot of calls on my cell from people who didn't know i was gone. my favourites were from kathleen who called about 5 times to see if i was home yet and from the kids at west broadway, who knew i was gone but wanted to bug me. this was much appreciated and was definately a highlight of my trip. I love those kids!!
my single celebrity spotting was of mr. tom jones. this excited me. we were at the same intersection. i waved...he didn't see me. this didn't matter.
well that's all...i'm going to watch star trek tonight for the first time in months.
