I can't believe no one has ever done a post about the main cast of the HBO series "OZ" (1997-2003).
I just got into this show about a month ago and I'm hooked.

Since so many cast members died off on this show, I'm going to focus on characters that were in the show for (pretty much) the entire run of the series. But since there are so many, I’m only focusing on a few. Follow the cut and enjoy!





Harold Perrineau

Currently, he is starring as “Michael Dawson” in Lost and was also seen in the 2nd and 3rd Matrix movies. Next he’ll be appearing in the films Your Name Here, Ball Don’t Lie, and Felon.

Dean Winters

After Oz ended, Dean guest-starred on“30 Rock” and “Rescue Me”. He can be seen next in the film “P.S. I Love You” (starring Hilary Swank) as well as the films “Winter of Frozen Dreams” and “Sweet Flame”.

After Oz ended, Lee guest-starred on many television series including “Rescue Me”, “The 4400”, “Law and Order”, “Desperate Housewives”, and “The Unit”. He also had a recurring role on the now-cancelled TNT series “Wanted”. He is now filming “Generation Kill”, a mini-series airing on HBO in 2008.

Christopher Meloni

Christopher is most well-known for his current role as Elliot Stabler on “Law and Order: SVU”. His upcoming projects include the films “Nights in Rodanthe”, “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men” , “Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay”, and “Dirty Movie”.

J.K. Simmons

J.K currently stars in “The Closer” as Asst. Police Chef Will Pope. He will also be in the film “Juno” (which will be released in theatres on Christmas Day 2007). You may also recognize him from the Spider-Man trilogy as J. Jonah Jameson (the head of the newspaper). In 2008, he will star in the films “The Stone House” and “The Way of War”.

Terry Kinney

Terry is one of the co-founders of the Chicago-based Steppenwolf Theatre Company and was previously married to the star of “Law and Order: CI” (and fellow Oz co-star) Kathryn Erbe. After Oz, he guest-starred in “CSI: NY” and “Queens Supreme”. He is currently filming the pilot to the television series “Canterbury’s Law”.

Ernie has made a lot of TV guest-spots since Oz including “Bones”, “Desperate Housewives” and more recently on “Psych”. He is currently doing voiceover work on “Ghostbusters: The Video Game” and will appear in the upcoming films “The Man in the Silo” and “Lonely Street”.

Rita Moreno

Rita Moreno is one of the very few performers that has ever one a Tony, a Grammy, and an Emmy award. She appeared in “Singin in the Rain”, “The King and I”, and most famously “West Side Story”. She most recently starred in the TV series “Cane” and guest-starred on an episode of“Ugly Betty”.

Kirk Acevado

After Oz, Kirk appeared in the short-lived Law and Order spin-off “Trial by Jury” and made guest appearances on “Cold Case”, “24”, and “Numb3rs”. Most recently, he starred as Nicky Cottero in the (cancelled?) TV series “The Black Donnellys”.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje

Adewale is currently known for his role as Mr. Eko on the TV series “Lost”. He will be starring in the “G.I. Joe” movie re-make as well as providing voiceover for the film adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ “Horton Hears a Who!”
