kids say the darndest things
So today is our final day teaching in the schools. I observed Rus and Melissa, collaborated with Amee for 5th graders, and this afternoon lead the 6th grade reading class. I have some crazy challenging stuff for these middle schoolers, and I hope they rise to the challenge.
A funny thing happened however while collaborating with Amee. We broke them into groups to work on tableaux and one group (of 6 boys) called me over to them. I figured they wanted suggestions or something and the kids are comfortable with us now since this is Amee's and my 3rd time teaching them. However, one boy pointed to another and says "He likes you" "Oh really?" I say. "Yeah, he has a crush on you" is the response. This boy looks somewhat mortified that his friend has told me this, but blushes and glances at his desk. It was quite cute, but I mean, how do you respond when an 11 year old has a crush on you. Anyway, he kept glancing sheepishly at me throughout the lesson. This kept me quite amused during the class. Oh to be in 5th grade again! For the record, he is a cute little kid, and will probably be quite handsome--once he passes 5 ft tall. :)
