Some guy bought a MacBookAir off eBay for around $700, only to find out when he received it that it was a prototype, something quite popular with computer collectors.

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=601953 Anyone watching the progress on this? I think it is interesting to "see" Apple's progress on designing the MBA, physically in the form of this item. I also think prototypes are interesting due to the fact that even if there are 10 prototypes, as the production # in this MBA suggests, this one is likely still unique because prototypes are usually built to test different builds.
Right now there's a lot of mystery surrounding how this MBA was leaked, what Apple may do about it (demand its return? not care?), and what the buyer should do with it. Yay geek drama! XD
Edit: Apparently the owner went to the nearest Apple store and pulled up the above website and asked for their opinion on the whole thing. The manager looked up the serial number in their database and discovered that it was NOT stolen, as some had proposed. The manager made a call to Corporate and left messages as he was unable to get through. Later, the manager called the owner at home with news that Apple didn't want it back and that he was free to do with it whatever he liked though Apple would not support the prototype or acknowledge its existence.
He's gonna put it up on eBay here soon and I look forward to seeing what it goes for. :D
