Yesterday at approximately 0600 hours, I, Captain Abarai Renji of Fifth Division, found Inoue Orihime murdered in her home. Unable to locate her reiatsu to attempt to send her soul to Soul Society, I sought the assistance of her long-time comrade and member of the Thirteenth Division, Kurosaki Ichigo. Our efforts were in vain--it seems that she was killed in a scuffle with a thief in her home, and then her soul was attacked and eaten by a Hollow who arrived on and escaped from the premises via Garganta.
Orihime's loss is a heavy blow in an already-dark time for Soul Society, and comes as a grim reminder that it's not always war alone that takes from us. I urge everyone to be cautious always in their movements; we can't afford any more losses.
Anyone wishing to pay respects to Orihime can speak to Vice-captain Kuchiki Rukia, Kurosaki Ichigo, or myself for information. Anyone with any knowledge regarding this terrible incident or the people and Hollows who may have been behind it are urged to speak to us as well. That's...that is all.
