Good day

I discovered the Garden District Book Shop today. I bought a couple books, including Weird Louisiana. It's road trip time!!!!!

I had my first "rude tourist" experience, except they were rude to each other and nice to me. I'd just purchased my books and was walking back to my car. There was a group of 6-8 tourists gawking at mansions. That was fine- I wasn't in a hurry. I just walked slowly behind them, when one of the guys in the group was like, "EVERYBODY MOVE! THIS LADY NEEDS TO GET THROUGH! MOVE OUT OF THE WAY! GET OUT OF HER WAY!" Embarrassed, I muttered thanks. The group was a little spread out, so I got to group 1b, and walked a little slowly next to them, which was about twenty feet from the corner I needed to get to to turn onto the street I parked on. "LADIES! GET OUT OF THAT POOR GIRL'S WAY! HEY! I'M TALKING TO YOU! MOVE IT!" The women moved to the side of the sidewalk. I was a bit mortified. I also saw a car breeze through a stop sign and almost get hit by another car. Then, I almost got hit by a car, thanks to the fact that I couldn't see the oncoming traffic at one of the streets because of all of the parked cars on the side of the road.

I didn't really want to go to class, but I'm glad I did. I ended up going out to dinner with one of my classmates, and he paid. We're setting up a movie thing for next week. I have to see if I can reserve the movie room. Then, I'm going to make him watch Ink and maybe Night of the Living Jews. He told me I need to watch A Serious Man.

Then, I went to grab a cup of coffee at the local indie coffee shop, and I found out a movie is filming right next to my apartment. It's either Earthbound (with Kate Hudson) or The Green Lantern (with Ryan Reynolds, probably not, but one can hope). There are three major films, a TV series, and a bunch of documentaries filming right now. I've heard a lot of complaints about Treme and their crew being rude/ ect. to the locals here. I've heard no complaints about Earthbound, and apparently they've been filming here for months, so I guess they're doing a better job. From what I can see, it's some sort of romance where Kate Hudson is having problems and Whoopi Golberg plays God. The lady at the coffee shop thought it was a sci-fi. Too bad it isn't. :(
