ok, so i discovered this about a month ago, and it's really the best little bit of internet video i've seen in a long time, maybe even *ever.* It's about remote viewing and the CIA's investigation into how it might be used for *psychic spying.*
It sounds like a big old conspiracy theory but, no, it seems to have actually happened that the CIA funded this research into the accuracy of remote viewing and even used the psychics participating in the study to garner information about the condition of hostages during the Iran-Contra affair. The only caveat, depending on your point of view, is that the lecture takes place at a think tank called "
the Arlingtong Institute" which is kind of.. cutting edge, or, er, far out.. you be the judge i guess.
Also, the guy who's giving the talk -
physicist Dr. Hal Puthoff - has a name that for some reason in print makes me think of hufflepuff, though he would probably not get sorted into hufflepuff
Further more, Dr. Puthoff cites some of the research on plants that was also cited in this, decidedly less scientific but none-the-less fabulous, book (which my grandmother had lying around and which changed my life when i read it in 8th grade):
ok so without further ado, i give you the *link* to this fascinating lecture:
A Public Presentation of the Government's Investigation of Psychic Spying And now that you're totally psyched about all of the psychic possibilities, you can enter any dreams or intuitions you may be having lately (especially urgent, future-oriented, global-ish ones) here in the "
whetherMap", a project of the Arlington Institute which, though I sound skeptical, I secretly think is a kind of cool idea. And I really love the name, reminiscent as it is of the Phantom Tollbooth.
